How do you get caked on dirt off eye glasses? |
Answer
Use Dawn dish soap. Put one small drop on each lens and a little water and gently rub with fingers then rinse well and dry with a SOFT clean cloth.
Do not use any soaps or detergents on anti-reflective lenses. Thay may break down the coatings and as well as the possibility of visual disturbace, they can be expensive to replace. Buy a cleaner espcially for optical lenses (available from most opticians) and use a soft, lint-free cloth to rub the lenses clean.
Some opticians have 'Sonic Baths' in their labs. These are great for really dirty glasses- the dirt and grime is literally blasted away by sonic waves. Most places will do this either very cheaply or free.
