The only way I know of to get food in Virtual Villagers 1 is to have villagers pick berries, but there are more. In Virtual Villagers 2, make one of your villagers a farmer and drag him/her into the ocean. He or she will try to fish if you put him in the right place. If he is successful, he will bring a crab or fish into the food container. (Do not try to drag him to the container if he has a fish or crab. He may seem slow, but dragging him will make his fish or crab dissapear. He/ she will then have to start over.) I don't currently know how to force villagers to eat, but they will eat. If you have 1500 Tech points, you can unlock letting villagers harvest coconuts. Drag a villager to one of the coconut trees near the ocean and the dry grass. If it says he/she is harvesting coconuts, then he or she will climb the tree to get a coconut. He will bring it to the food container. Once again, do not try to drag him or her there. You can also grow food. I don't know exactly how to, but you need to make the dam to do it. Glad to help!
