How to get Mew

These are ways you can get Mew in Pokémon: (please note this only includes the main Pokemon games, not spinoffs such as Mystery Dungeon)

1. You can use a GameShark or Action Replay to catch Mews. This is cheating, but it works.
2. In Pokémon Emerald, the event item 'Old Sea Map' will allow the player to encounter Mew. This item was only available in Japan the 2005 Pokémon Festa Event.
3. In Generation IV (Diamond/Pearl and newer), Mew can be found in the Pal Park Forest area, available after receiving the National Pokédex.
4. There is a glitch in Generation I (R/B/Y) that involves trainers noticing you, but you either fly or teleport out, specific guides can be found, see the related links below.
5. The most obvious way to get a Mew would be to receive it from a trade.

There are some common 'myths' about being given Mew:

• The Game Freak employee will give you Mew after catching all other pokémon. This is incorrect, he will give you a diploma, for catching every pokémon.
• People saying releasing your pokémon as a step are lying, you will just end up with your pokémon being lost forever.

you have to go to faraway island and you need a special ticket to get it and go deep into the forest and you have to play hide and seek with it and when you find it it'll attack you and you ether catch it or defeat it hope it helps :D

Actually, there is an island that you need *another* ticket for... i am unsure where to get this however. I do know that it takes you to another island which you have to make your way through a maze of trees to another area. In there is a mew.

You can get it by going to Mirage Island which only appears sometimes. There is a guy in a place near the bottom of the map (i forget what its called but its on rafts) and go to the very right and theres a house and eventually he will say "oh oh i can see mirage island today" then go right until you find an island and mew will be in the middle

Actually i think it's impossible to catch mew in Pokemon emerald unless you got a special event from years ago... Also you can use gameshark (which i don't recommend).Get an Old Sea Map(you should've gotten one at Japan's Pokemon Event in 2005, i think you MIGHT be able to get one through GameShark) and go to Slateport Harbor. Talk to the receptionist(at least, I think she is) and she'll ask you for a ticket*. She'll notice you have a strange map or pass(I don't really know), and will get a sailor. A sailor will come out and notice that you have the map. Then he tells you to board. You'll get to an island(which is the tiny little island east of the Battle Tower, or was it west?). Climb up, go into the forest, and you'll see Mew. It'll "fly" into the tall grass in front of you and you have to chase it around. Once you meet up with it Press A(I don't think it will stop for you.) You'll then encounter the wild Mew. you need the old sea chart which you can get from a Nintendo event You can use the game shark, action replay, or wireless adapter to find out more go to www.miquel.ning.com You need the Old Sea Map. I don't think you can get it, unless you hack.

This only works for Pokemon Emerald,not Pokemon Ruby or Pokemon Sapphire.

Without a hacking device, such as a gameshark, Mew is unobtainable. Originally, in Japan they held promotional events where mew was given out to people. There are many legends about how to "get mew" without a gameshark, but as of yet, none of them have been proven to be true.

You must have Abra, then near on nudge bridge there is a grass and there is a trainer but save before you are gonna use the start button. 2) Save before attempting step three, as it is unlikely to work o the first try.

3) Walk into the line of vision of the trainer who says "I saw your feat from the grass."

4) As your player stops, before the trainer's exclamation point appears, open the start menu, and have Abra use teleport.

5) At this time, your start menu will be disabled, and you will be unable to approach and talk to npcs, so be sure to have your preferred Pokemon at the top of the list, and be stocked up on poke-balls.

6) Walk back up Nugget Bridge and battle the youngster who owns only a level 17 Slowpoke.

7) On your way back to Cerulean, your start menu will pop up on its own, then a wild level seven Mew will appear. The execution of the glitch beyond this point is up to you, so good luck!

First, you got to have an action replay. Next, you got to have the modifier code. Then, you got to have the shiny code (note:this code will not last when you save. You're Pokemon will go back to normal.) Last, you got to have a Pokemon D/P game. Here's the trick to the modifier code: you will receive 493 master balls. You hold down the L button while tossing 342 master balls. Then, you run around in the grass while holding L, and a shiny mew will appear.

Kay well that's correct, but if you wanted to get a legitimate 1/8192 shiny, you can do it, however it is very tricky.

It can only be done in Pokemon Emerald. Reason being, because that game is the only one with an island built into the game that houses Mew (Faraway Island). You would need the Old Sea Map. It was an item given out at events years ago, but if you live in Europe, you can send your cartridge to Nintendo of Europe to get it put into your game. otherwise, i guess you could cheat for that, because it would not affect, realistically, the legitimacy of your shiny. And then yes, you travel to the island, and save in front of Mew, and soft reset (a+b+start+select) until it is shiny.

However, I had mentioned that it is tricky, and the reason for this is Pokemon Emerald has a broken RNG (random number generator) for determining shininess. In every other game your shiny frame appears "randomly" at a different time depending when you turn on your game. In Emerald it occurs at the same time anytime you turn on your game. So if your shiny frame occurs 3 hours into your game play, you would have to encounter your Mew three hours into game play. Now you can avoid this by restarting your game and soft resetting for a shiny starter. You restart your profile every 100 soft resets or so, in order to try and catch the right shiny frame for encountering a shiny starter. this means that you have an early shiny frame and can easily SR for shinies.
