How do you get princess peach out of the bedroom in N64 paper Mario?

Beside the fireplace is a little rectangular picture. If you walk up to it, you should see an !. Press A. It will reveal a button. Press A to activate the button. The small fence inside the fire place will drop down, move over to it and walk through the fire place as if it was a door way.

In the next room move peach left to the wall at the end, press A and the wall will spin, and u will end up in a room with bowsers diary.
