  • Call your doctor and ask about alternating ibuprofin and Tylenol also in the mean time make a luckwarm bath not cold and not hot, and sit the baby in it for about 10 minutes if you can.
  • It's advisable that you take your baby to either a clinic or ER. Sometimes babies can get fevers and mothers do exactly what the above poster said and all is well, but, sometimes a fever can mean there is something wrong and you need to let a doctor look at your baby.

This high of a temperature, especially in a toddler, would be a medical emergency. Call their pediatrician, or seek professional attention immediately.

Bathing the child is also a good idea. Some people say to use cold water or even ice, but this can actually harm your child. Use lukewarm water. You can even sponge them with lukewarm water while getting them ready to go to the doc.

Get them to sip on cool drinks if they can.

Make sure they are not piled up under blankets. With a temperature that high, they are likely to feel cold and goosebumpy, but it is important not to hold all of that heat in.

Give them a fever reducer. You doctor will let you know which one is best for your child.

Are you really asking this? I'm not sure what to think of someone with a 2 year old who doesn't know what to do when they spike a temperature, its a bit unnerving.

Tylenol + Motrin, Tylenol is typically good for 4 hours, Motrin for 6-8, alternate doses of the two, I try to save the Motrin for right before bed. Your child's fever will be lowest when he/she wakes up in the morning, and will climb a bit from there. Keep them dressed in cool clothing, offer a lot of liquids. A luke-warm bath is not a bad idea, nor is a cool washcloth on the forehead if they will let you. For his/her age its not a horrifically high temp, so I wouldn't be extremely (emergency room) worried, but I WOULD make a pediatrician appointment to confirm there isn't a bacterial infection behind it.

Dont try to get it down! this is a normal body defense mechanism against bacterial or viral infection; I would reccommend giving the child extra fluids and rest not neccessarily bed but not too active, they can have a blanket or duvet if they feel cold but if they start to sweat they should have a thinner cover or just clothing. Be very careful with medicines, a paracetamol suspension formula will probably not harm them(subject to Allergies) if the temperature has been more than 3 days or the child has just had an operation it is worth consulting your doctor, if you want to use additional medicines consult your pharmacist or doctor.
