Your question is a good one. I have continued swelling and am 6 months post op. I wear compression hose and use a compression machine, and keep my leg elevated. I have been told I may have lymphadema. Of course the surgeon says nothing is wrong it will just take time. I can't seems to get a straight answer. You can try the above and it may help unless of course you had recent surgery. Good luck
Wear a compression garment constantly for one week, without taking it off. Do not have a shower or a bath, use a small damp towel to wash yourself- but dont take off the compression garment. After the first week you may take garment off for a hour or so to wash garmet/shower. To reduce the swelling drink heaps of water and you could try ice packs, but remember that swelling is the bodies natural response to damage and serves a purpose. The swelling actually helps to hold the skin in place so that the skin can reduce to the new shape at a normal a healthy rate so that excess skin is minimal.

In order to get the best results out of a liposuction procedure, it is essential that the patient wears a liposuction garment for at least a couple of days to a week after surgery. The benefits of these garments are essential as they ensure that swelling is reduced and that the liposuction area is well compressed in order to assist with healing. In addition, it assists with support and shaping for the area that was reduced on the body.
