- Grab old newspaper and fill the container with wadded up newspaper and place the lid on top.
- Let the container sit for a day and overnight. The newspaper absorbs the odor.
- Remove the old newspaper and discard after letting it sit for the allotted time.
- Re-wash the dish with dish washing soap. Then wash it again with real lime or lemon juice and then your container should be like new and have a fresh fragrance. Repeat the whole process if necessary.If there is still a smell just repeat the process again.
Another suggestion
Shred some Pandanus leaves and leave them in the container. The Pandanus plant is also called Screw Pine. If you cannot find the leaves, you can find frozen ones in Thai markets.
