How do you get scratches out of Gamecube games?

I don't know if it works for gamecube but my PC and PS2 work fine if you put toothpaste in the scratches and let it dry. If you want to play it completely safe buy a product like Merlins disk magic cause they will guarantee it and i don't think your toothpaste company will.
