There is no sandbox mode in 2. You can go into scenario editor and tediously select the entire map as being owned, then pick the rides you want to work on- as well as the scenery you wish to include (I'd keep the scenery as generic as possible) and give yourself the max amount of money. Then set the game condition to having a certain # of people (I think the max is 5000) in your park at one time... and set a timer for 25 years. That should give you a decent amount of time to develop some stuff.
A sandbox map is a open-ended gameplay map, there is no objectives to complete and you havee access to all the units, like for example, Command and Conquer generals, you fight against an AI opponent until you defeat him, simple as.
The maps are Assembly, Orbital, Sandbox, Citadel, Longshore and Heretic.

Im pretty sure but not 100%, but its when the map has the same thing on eachside, like standard sandbox
Sandbox Skull Effect: The Effect of the Sandbox Skull is unknown. There may be no effect whatsoever. Finding the Sandbox Skull will unlock an achievement worth 25GS.Sandbox Skull Location: The Sandbox Skull can be found on the Mythic map, "Sandbox". This skull is a bit tricky, because it's location is outside of the safety perimeter. Getting to the skull means avoiding death. Create a teleporter node somewhere in the main area of the map. Fly upwards using the monitor and look in the direction of the sun. Turn to the right, past the first pillar, and in between the first and second pillars. The Skull is in this direction at the edge of the map. Create an exit teleporter node, and fly in this direction avoiding fire from the pillars as best as possible, dropping the node directly onto or nearby the skull. You can now teleport directly to the skull giving you enough time to pick it up before being killed by the guardians.
Orbital, Assembly, Sandbox The newer version, the "Mythic Map Pack II," includes Heretic, Citadel, and Longshore
Kind of. It's classified as an open world sandbox. Open world means you can travel to any point on the map. Sandbox means you are free to do whatever you want in the game.

Sandbox, Orbital, Assembly, Longshore, Heretic, and Citadel are the maps released in the Mythic Map Pack, and are called the "Mythic Maps" for short.
That is dabatable, however most people would say the DLC map Sandbox, especially if you manage to stop the guardians from killing players.
