There are two ways to get to Rikers Island by public transportation: the Q100 or Q101 buses, or the Rikers Island van. The van travels over the Rikers Island Bridge to the Rikers Island Visitors Center.
The simplest way to get there from 125th Street is the van. The van currently makes one stop in Manhattan, one in the Bronx, and one in Queens. The Bronx stop is the easiest to get to from 125th Street.
To get to the stop in the Bronx, take the Uptown 4 or 5 trains (of the 4-5-6, the dark green line) from 125th Street (at Lexington Avenue), or the Uptown 2 train (of the 1-2-3, the red line) from 125th Street (at Lenox Avenue) to 149th Street-Grand Concourse.
You will exit the subway at 149th Street and Grand Concourse. The Rikers Island van departs from 149th Street at Anthony J. Griffin Place. Walk 1 block east on 149th Street from Grand Concourse to Anthony J. Griffin Place.
