Once you have a powerful fighting ship, you simply sail into the waters around the hidden 6th island (Skullduggery) and battle Captain Crawfish. Only the Phoenix Warbird can outshoot him, and you may need the Shipwright from Dragon Cove and the skilled Cannoneer from the Pirate Outpost.
Once you have all five map pieces, you have to chase off Captain Crawfish (before he sinks, he quickly sails away). The Governor at Fort Ridley will then reveal the location of the Buried Treasure.
(If you try to defeat him with the Steaming Fury, he usually repairs himself just before you finish him off. This has almost no chance of succeeding, whereas the Phoenix Warbird, with the Shipwright and Cannoneer aboard, can prevail much more easily.)
Two Battle Techniques
1) Sail in a circular motion, and try getting closer to him in order to land more hits. Don't let him out of your sight or he will repair himself as you can with the Shipwright. Once you have more health than he does, bump his ship with your ship and it will drain the rest of his health.
2) Sail away from him and shoot straight up as he follows. Your shots will come down on him and he will have little chance to hit you. When he gets low on health, drop your anchor and fight him at point blank range, firing continuously until his health goes to zero and he sails away.

∙ 13y agoAfter you have all five map pieces, join them together and you will reveal the hidden island Skullduggery (just right and down from the Pirate Outpost). Sail past the island and Captain Crawfish will soon attack. You will need the Phoenix Warbird, the Cannoneer and likely the Shipwright to best him in battle.
Generally, sailing anywhere around the Pirate Outpost is likely to eventually bring out Captain Crawfish.

∙ 10y agoYou have to outshoot them. Aim your cannons with the cursor and click to fire. Remember that aiming will also steer your ship in that direction, so shoot and turn back to your original course.
If you are outgunned or have only the raft, you could sail for the reefs above and left of Golden Harbor, and the pirates may wreck on them.

∙ 13y agoYou can't. You need a Phoenix Warbird to finish him off, because if you use a koi and you're battling him, he heals himself again and regains half of his hp.
One way to attack him is to get him on the other side of the island where the dock is, so that when he goes toward the right he'll have a bit of trouble. You should be on the other side of the island where he can't get you. Don't let him get out of your sight because then he'll heal himself again.

Beating Crawfish
Get the Phoenix Warbird, with the Shipwright and the Cannoneer, and you are a match for him. You can sail ahead of him, shooting straight up and your shots will land on him while he can't shoot back. When his health is lower, ram him to finish him off.

∙ 10y agoCaptain Crawfish (dream #2) is one of the first two you have to visit. You need his turpentine and stopwatch, and also the paint sprayer from Dr. Hare's dream (dream #4).
Get the red key from the cabinet over the door, and open the chest on the lower deck, getting the Stopwatch. Get the green key from the cabinet down there and open the chest at upper left , which has the Turpentine. You cannot enter the Ship in a Bottle until you have a shrinking potion. Using the turpentine with the paint sprayer will let you beat Black Widow's dream, where you find the Shrinking Potion on one of the paintings you clean.
When you return with the potion, enter the bottle and jump the sleeping pirates to reach the upper sails. As the cannons roll back into their boxes, click them to lock the cannons inside. Then you can go to the cannon in the small dinghy near the bottom. When the third pirate rolls left, fire it to break the glass and you have the Ship Totem.

This will occur somewhere between the Pirate Outpost and the new Skullduggery island. Once you beat him, go back to the Governor and he will give you the directions to the buried treasure.

Continue to sink sea monsters and trade among the islands, and buy larger ships, until you have purchased the Phoenix Warbird and have all 4 of the trained crewmen. Then you can engage Captain Crawfish in battle near the new island. Beat him, and you can get the location and treasure instructions from the Governor at Fort Ridley.
