Best Answer

You grow pineapples from the leafy green top you cut off the fruit. Place the top on its side for a few hours to dry the cut, then place it (cut side down) in moist potting soil. Water when dry; the top should produce roots in two weeks. Your plant could have fruit in as few as 18 months, if provided with a moderate amount of light and adequate fertilizer.

Slowly....it takes 16-18 months to get the first fruit. Usually 1 pineapple per plant as you remove any suckers/slips to let most of the energy the plant is producing to go into that one pineapple. Once picked when you think is ripe, you wonder if all the time it took is worth all the water, fertilizing, care.

Pineapples grow on plants called bromeliads, or air plants. Originally found in South America, pineapple plants are now cultivated in tropic and subtropic regions around the world.
