How do you have immortality?

For immortality first of all you have to become freed from the familiar order of this world. Deep spiritual practice is needed and the guidness of those who are immortals - the great spiritual teachers.

You don't really "have" it until you die. You will be immortal (def: cannot die) regardless of where you spend eternity. It is a personal relationship between an individual and God (based on acceptance of His Son Jesus Christ) that determines whether you go to heaven or hell. If you go to heaven, you will be "immortal" in the sense that you will be living forever. In hell, you will also be "immortal", but not in the same sense. You will be forever dying as opposed to forever living.

According to the Bible, immortality (eternal life) may be had "as God's gift" through Jesus Christ. (Rom.6:23)

Prophecy reveals a "Day of Judgment" is coming on the earth in which a "second death" is in the offing for those whom Jesus does not grant said "gift."

The Bible says that the "first death" men die is "appointed" to him from which we shall be resurrected (Heb.9:27)... and that it's the "second death" from which Jesus may save us.

"...This is the second death. And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the Lake of Fire." (Rev.20:14-15)

Death and life are OPPOSITES... not the same thing. The "second death" is not "living" but being "eternally dead."

A young man once asked Jesus what he had to do to "have immortality"... and Jesus told him:

"...if thou wilt enter into life (have immortality), KEEP THE COMMANDMENTS." (Matt.19:17)
