How do you help swimmers ear?In: Health, Child Health, First Aid |
[Edit] |
If you're out in the middle of nowhere and don't have a phamracy but DO have some vinegar, you can mix a 10-1 solution of 3% white vinegar and use this in an emergency. Don't try this trick with Muriatic acid.
If you wish, your doctor can prescribe an otic cortigosteroid to reduce the swelling as well -- Cortisporin Otic is the most common call.
You can avoid this by keeping the insides of your ears dry as much as possible. Note too that swimmer's ear is far more prevalent in fresh water vice salt water (where I've never seen it myself).
One of the best natural remedies for swimmers ear is that you can use baby oil, heat it and then pour into the ears with the help of a dropper and place a cotton ball to avoid draining.
