Run component cables (red, whit and yellow) from the DVR "video out" (yellow) to the "video in" of the DVD recorder. That will send the picture to the DVD recorder. If your DVR or DVD recorder does not have the yellow video out or in as described, use the "S video" out of the DVR to the "S video" in of the DVD recorder. The red and white jacks are for sound....out of the DVR to the audio in of the DVD recorder.

You have easy two options.

1: if your TV has video/audio connections then plug the DVD player into the Video/Audio ports on the TV. Connect the Antenna/cable from the wall to the input on the VCR and then connect a cable from the output of the VCR to the TV. Put the TV on 3 or 4 to watch the VCR and on Video to watch the DVD 2: If your TV does not have Video/Audio inputs then connect the DVD to the VCR Video/Audio inputs and connect the VCR to the TV as described in option. TO watch DVD select the DVD as the input for the VCR and then turn the TV to CH 3 or 4.

First you ask it out on a date... :)

No, seriously - it will depend on what connectors you have available on your DVR and your TV. First off, you will probably need a Y-splitter for your cable/satellite/antenna input, so that you can connect the DVR and the TV at the same time. If your DVR has "Ant In" and

"Ant Out" connectors, you may not need a splitter - you just connect the DVR's "Ant Out" to the TV's "Ant In".

Other than that, you can connect the DVR to the TV in 3 ways: Composite (3 wires, 1 for video and 2 for audio), Component (5 wires, 3 for video and 2 for audio) or HDMI (1 cable that carries video and

audio). Not all DVRs are equipped for all 3 types of connection, and older TVs may not have all 3 either.

Composite connections give the lowest quality picture and stereo (2 channel) sound. Component connections give better video but still only deliver stereo sound. HDMI will give you the best quality picture and can carry multi-channel (5.1 or 7.1) sound.

HD cable box --> DVD recorder -> TV

Your recording will be not HD, but regular SD of course. Also, with this method, you will also get SD picture on your television.

Alternative to that is to hook up your cable box to your TV via HDMI or component video and also the cable box to your DVD recorder via S-video or component (and the DVD recorder to your TV's seconday input).

That way you will get HD picture on your TV. However, some cable companies do NOT allow two simultanous outputs from their cable boxes via HDMI plus component or S video connection, in which case you would have unplug the HDMI from the back of your cable box each time you want to record something out of the box onto a DVD disk and watch what is being recorded on your television through the DVD recorder, not straight from your cable box, therefore, you would be getting SD pic on your TV for the duration of the recording.

Depends on were you are (which country) and make and model of TV. Try reading the instructions of the equipment, or downloading them off the makers website.

If the TV has two SCART leads, Wire one unit to each SCART, that will take care of all input output signals.

If you have to use RCA connectors, connect the output of the units to the inputs of the TV.

You can also 'daisy chain' them. The output of the DVD to the input of the DVR, then the output of the DVR to the AV input of the TV.

Then to watch the DVD, select the AV input on the DVR and set the TV to the AV input of the DVR.

The DVD player will connect directly to your TV. Our receivers only have output ports not inputs.

Does the cable signal need to go through both VCR and DVD player and if so do you need a splitter to accomplish it?

Cable hookupyou can string them in order wall to cable box ( if needed ) box to vcr ( for recording ) vcr to DVD and DVD to tv. Mine is hooked up wall to box, box to splitter, splitter to tv ( I have dual tuners for pip ) then coaxial out plugs on DVD to coaxial in on tv ( I don't use a vcr any more but if I did it would be after the splitter and before the tv.) There is no need to send cable to the DVD unless it is a recorder also or if you don't have auxiliary inputs on the tv.

Can a DVD VCR recorder without a tuner still record tv shows?

I believe that you can use your cable turner or the TV turner to record TV Shows. It all in the setup for RCA style inputs into the DVD/VCR from outputs from the cable box or TV if they are available. You can only record TV shows that are playing on the TV/Cable Box and if they do not have outputs setting up the DVD/VCR to record is not possible. The single channel use prevents you from watching one show and recording another on that TV. This is what I was doing before I got the DVR on my cable box and now I fast forward past all the commercials.

Need help to hook VCR DVD to record it does not have a coax cable on the vcr DVD?

The modern VCR / DVD recorder does not work like the old VCRs. The switch to OTA digital TV has made the tuner less useful and was deleted from most device. VCR / DVD are now used to transfer the data to DVD . You could however attach cables fron an exernal digital tuner/ or cable box/ satellite into the VCR/DVD with the input line to record. (RCA / HDMI/ composite)
