How do you improve creativity?

Answer:

Creative means "thinking outside the box." To become more creative, you need to use your brain as much as possible. Anything you do that makes your brain come up with different ways to solve problems will "exercise" your creativity! Here are some more suggestions:

  • READ! The more you know, the more creative you will be. Creative people understand the traditional ways to solve problems, and can then come up with new solutions. Reading also introduces you to new ideas and new ways of thinking about the world.
  • Think about ways to "shake things up." Instead of taking the usual route home, find your way through a new neighborhood (if you are under 18, take a parent with you so you will be safe!). Instead of paying with paper money, figure out how to come up with the amount by using coins. Try writing or doing other daily activities with your other hand. Think of ways to do anything in a new or different way.
  • Play. Creative people are curious and playful. They are not afraid of failing, but use failure to learn more about what they are doing and come up with even more ideas!
