Do you mean reinstall? in xp go to device manager and look for the driver you want to download or reinstall.
press the windows key that is between control and the alt button , hold that down and press the pause /break button. Window key is on bottom left side and pause break is on the right side at the top. This will bring up system properties.click on Hardware and then click on device manager. you will see all of the hardware devices installed on your computer. They all have a + sign next to them that gives you a drop down that gives you a choice to either uninstall and search for updates. The best way to do this is to click on uninstall it asks you are you sure you want to do this? click yes, then you restart your PC and it should come saying New hardware has been detected. it will then ask you if you want to search The correct one is NO ONLY THIS TIME. The driver will then be installed and you should have sound. Evan if you just need a driver you will follow this same way. If you see any red or yellow, the red means the device has been disabled the yellow means there is a problem with that device it is on.
It is the same for all windows operating systems, not only XP. The old drivers
must be uninstalled so the new drivers can be installed. You can also have windows search for new drivers, when in devise MGR, if you rt click on the hardware it says,
update driver software. If you chose this method, windows will do all the work for you.
