Many people have found themselves in very frustrating situations in which they have lost the install disc for something on their computer. It may seem that without the install disc, that application or piece of hardware may as well be forgotten about. With printers, however, this is almost never the case. It is indeed possible to install a printer without an install disc. All you have to do is follow these easy to learn instructions.
First, position the computer and the printer next to each other. Make sure all the wires for the computer are properly connected including any power cords. Next, switch on your computer. Let it boot up and load Windows.
Now take the power cord of the printer and plug it into an outlet. Next, you’ll have to connect the printer to the computer. Most times this is done through a USB cord. A USB cord more than likely came with your printer. If you can’t find one, you can purchase a replacement. Hook the USB cord into the port on the printer and then connect it to the USB port on the computer.
Now turn on the printer. In Windows, access the start menu. You can find this menu through the symbol that is on the bottom task bar all the way to the left. Click on it. In the start menu, access the control panel. It should be one of the choices in the second column.
In the control panel, search for the option labeled “Printers and Hardware†or some similar variation. Click on it. In this menu, you might see an option for a submenu named “Printers and Faxes.†Choose that submenu. Inside the submenu, search for the option to add a printer. Once you find it, click on it.
At this point, a wizard application will begin that will give you the option of allowing the program to automatically detect printers plugged into USB ports. It is likely to find your printer and begin its installation right away. If it does not automatically find it, the program will allow you to manually enter the information for the USB port the printer uses, the manufacturer of the printer, and so forth.

Will there be a problem if you can not find the drivers for your printer? This should not be a cause for concern. The majority of drivers for printers can be found online on the internet. Here is what you need to do in order to get your printer working.
Find out the make and model of your printer. This should be available in the literature that came with your printer. If you can not find the manual or any of the packaging, don’t be concerned. You can find the make and model on the printer itself, usually somewhere near the bar code.
You should also know what kind of operating system your computer is running on. In most cases this will be either Windows, MacOS, or Linux. If you have a Macintosh, it is MacOS. If it’s anything else, it is probably Windows, unless you decided to have Linux installed on your computer. Most operating systems will tell you that they are running on your computer when you start up your PC.
Find the manufacturer of your printer online. You can do this by doing a Google search for the product name. In some cases if you add the word driver to the search it will take you right to the page that you are looking for. If not it is usually very easy to find the drivers on the product website.
A list of drivers will be available on the website. In some cases you may need to download more than one driver. Make sure that you are downloading the driver that is made for the operating system that your computer is running off of. Once you have found the driver, all you need to do is download it from the website and install it on to your computer system.
Once the driver is downloaded, simply plug the printer into your computer, go to the Windows control panel, choose printers and hardware, and follow the directions. You will then restart your computer, and print a test page in order to make sure that the printer is working properly. You can do this from the printers and hardware screen, which lets you right click on the printer you have installed, go to properties, and select print test page.

Technically, you wouldn't install two drivers. You would just install a second "instance" of the printer. Just go to the control panel, select printers and faxes, l-click "add a printer" and add the same printer again, but rename it to something different. Then set up the second instance any way you want it to behave.
