Take some citrus, lemon or lime, juice and coat the avacado with it. The citric acid will keep it from turning brown. (Works on apples, too!) Cover with saran wrap, as to keep it from being exposed to the air, or my favorite way, eat it.

if it's in a fruit salad add fresh Orange Juice. Take the peeled banana and roll it in milk so that it is coated, then wrap in plastic and freeze it. It won't turn brown. When you have enough use them for muffins or bread. It's great when you have a surplus of bananas.

Avocados can be immersed in acidic liquids such as lemon juices and solution water. The acid not only helps to prevent discoloration but can also improve the flavor.

Another trick, if you are storing avocadoes after they are cut is to wrap them tightly with cling wrap. This will keep air away from them, which turns them dark.

The browning is caused by air. The two methods of preventing an avocado from changing colors is to apply citrus juice (lime is most common, but lemon, orange and grapefruit work) or oil.
