If it's very fresh, it can last up to a week. After about 4 days, it will begin to lose its crunch but is still edible. You can chop/cook with it for three or four days after that. The best solution, if it's almost a week or it's not looking so good, is to crisp it by cutting into pieces and storing them in water in the fridge. Within about 30 minutes the crunch is back. Celery doesn't freeze well (it gets mealy when defrosted), so don't go that route.

  1. 1. When you get the celery home from the store, remove the plastic it came in, or anything else, such as a wire band, that was used to hold it together and discard it.

  2. 2

There is no need to wash the celery until it is time to use it, so simply pull out a piece of aluminum foil large enough to wrap the whole celery head so none of it shows.

  3. 3

Fold the ends over carefully and refrigerate the bundle. When you want to use it, unwrap it in such a way that the foil can be reused, or replace the foil if it becomes too torn to cover the celery completely. Celery will keep for a month--at least!--as fresh as the day you bought it, using this method

Celery is great for your body. If you cut off about an inch and a half from the bottom, and the leafy part at the top, it can easily last for two weeks in properly cooled fridge. As it starts to age, it loses its crispness, so before each use, check to see that its crisp, and not floppy.

If stored properly, celery should keep reasonably well in the refrigerator for one week, perhaps longer.

The best way is to place it in an air tight container. This should be done with all foods. Some people place the celery in a glass container of water.
