Try Capstar pills. They work great and in a short period of time. I just got a dog from an animal shelter and they informed me that my dog (like so many strays) was flea infested. They gave him Capstar and that solved the problem. Its the only product they use.

You should bomb the house. It might take one to two hours, but it is effective. You will need to vacuum clean the carpets every day, clean any bedding and fabric furniture the cat has been near. there is no specific brand you should use, but try and find three good brands and alternate between them constantly, because after time, ticks and fleas develop an immunity to a particular chemical. for example, use brand A for three months, brand B for three moths then go to Brand C and repeat this cycle.
