How do you know a crank angle sensor has failed in an EVO 6?

one of the tell tale signs of crank angle sensor failure is the engine does not start straight away and may take some time to do so .Another way to tell is whilst cranking engine pour water over sensor notice how quickly the engine starts this problem is prevelant in late model holdens
