Difference Between Boy and Girl Cats
Even very small kittens have a visible difference. On males, the (furry) testicles are clearly visible just by lifting the tail.
If a male has been neutered, the scrotum will be nearly invisible. You can go looking for a male's penis, but it's rather small (maybe 1 cm) and hard to find in all that hair. The penis has no fur and sticks out more than a nipple (yes, both males and females have six nipples).
Neutered male and female cats also still look somewhat different from the rear. The female will have something of a vulva visible (kind of a leaf shape below the anus) whereas a male will not.
There are also secondary sex characteristics, like larger heads for males, but only if the male was neutered late enough for these to have developed.
Answer
Both male and female kittens have two openings in the anal area. They are closer together in the female. The one closest to the tail in both sexes is the anus. In a female, the vulva is a vertical slit almost joined to the anus like an upside down exclamation mark. In a male, the tip of the penis is hidden in a small round opening about 1/2 inch below the anus.
Answer
Below the tail, there is a hole, that is called the anus. That is where the poop comes out. If your cat is a boy, and has not been neutered ("fixed"), then below that hole there are two little round things. Those are the testes (testicles). That means it is a boy. If those are not there, then either the cat has been neutered (fixed) or it is a girl.

It is difficult to determine the sex of a young kitten because the genetalia looks almost the same. You just have to wait and be patient in this endeavor and wait for the "balls" to drop or not.

Answer
The easiest method is to view the cat from behind the tail. If you look toward the anus and see a "colon," -:- , it's a female. If you see a "Semi-colon," -;- , that's a male.
