How do you know if a guy is really ready for marriage?

The thing is he does not have an apartment he lived with his parents during school to save money he still lives with them for the same ready. i really don't get it he has plenty of money but i on his case about getting an apartment we went to look at some but he has not filled the application out and turned it in were suppose to be getting married April 3rd. he wont take a day off so we can go get the marriage license. that what bothering me. He wont do anything that's why I'm wondering whether he really wants this or not.

Ready for marriage?

The trouble is that deep down nobody is ever ready for marriage! To be ready for marriage you must be able to give up something. Like some of your independence! There is no sure way of knowing if your boyfriend (or girlfriend) is willing to give up some of that freedom. I would simply ask your future mate how they feel about giving up some of their favorite activities like "hanging around with the boys" after work or figuring out how much he or she is still dependent on their parents.

But more than anything try to figure out how "alike" you are. This is by far the more important criteria.

The above poster is correct. Getting married is a gamble. It is generally always the woman that does the planning for even the simplest of weddings (Justice of the Peace.) Don't forget that marriage license! I had to go and get our marriage license and plan for a Chapel Wedding (I had been married before.) Sometimes men simply feel it's a 'woman's thing.' It appears both of you are getting cold feet and that is quite normal. In fact, just before I reached the Chapel I had my father pull over by a park so I could think. I was beginning to wonder if I was doing the right thing. My father and mother were very patient and finally I decided it was the right thing to do. I have been married to my second husband for 36 years and through good and bad that has happened throughtout our married life we fought it head on together and I wouldn't trade him for the world. If both of you are getting along after four years then there is no reason to feel things will change for the worst. Don't believe that you aren't marrying the family either, because you are!

Take time out and go over your relationship that you've had for four years and figure out if you truly love him and is there any problems in the relationship. If so, then perhaps both of you should take a hiatus from each other to clear your heads before diving into marriage. If you want a good marriage now is the time to start 'communication skills' and sit down with your fiance and ask him how he feels about it. No one should get married if they have several doubts or don't care for the way they have been treated or feel their mate has some terrible habits, because it won't get better.
