How do you know if eye infection is bacterial or viral My Dr could not make up his mind. Did not take a test even. He perscribed citoxam just in case. Could that be dangerous if infection is viral?

That is true but viral infections stay dormant in the body until the nucleic acids can enter a cell then spreading itself throughout the body. Viral infections can not be cured unlike bacterial...

Bacterial infections can be treated with antibiotics a virus can't.

Bacteria are living and can be killed through the use of antibiotics. A virus is not living in the first place.
