How do you know if you are smothering someone and calling them too often? In: Relationships |
[Edit] |
Answer
You know when you're smothering someone with too many phone calls when they start "conveniently" avoiding your calls and making excuses why they didn't call back.
Of course, the daily phone call will be seen as obsessive. More calls than that is borderline stalkerish.
On the other hand, if you leave one message and they don't call you back, I would move on. That's just really disrespectful.
In other words, if you feel you're calling them too much, you probably are. Or you can try asking them directly how they feel. Hopefully, they can be honest with their reply.
Answer
She avoids lunch with you when she always enjoyed it in the past; she acts uncomfortable every time you call even if it is a legitimate call; she is not very responsive when you hug or hold hands or kiss; she acts like sex is all about you and rarely enjoys or initiates it; she gets irritated when you ask simple questions like "where did you go for lunch" and usually responds to all of your questions with "why?"; she drinks more or get way too absorbed in other things like watching TV or work; she tells you that you "are not my dad"; or that "I prefer to do things myself as I am quite capable"; when "no" means "no".......
Answer
If they never call you back, never answer the phone, or if they always seem to be out somewhere every time you try to call. If they do answer, they try to get off the phone with you pretty fast, as if they are really busy doing something else, and most of the time they aren't.

Nobody can miss you if you are always there... If you are asking the question How do you know if you are smothering someone and calling too much... Chances are, you probably are. There is no need to be calling someone more then 1 time a day. Unless you are SUPER INSECURE. If the person you are dating or living with or whatever is not answering the phone, makes excuses, or doesn't call you when they say they will... or when you call they want to get off the phone really quick, chances are you are smothering them. People need space by nature. If someone say's they are going to call you TAKE THEM AT THEIR WORD, it only shows insecurities and just plain ugly to do otherwise... Make them chase you.. they can't miss you if you are always there.... it really works...
Answer
You can tell if you are smothering someone by their response to your calls and doings. I know myself if a person that I care about calls too many times, it will eventually drive me crazy. Sometimes people do this because they are insecure about their relationship with that person. Do everything on moderation, and lack in nothing that would cause you to have them to think you dont care. ctr
Answer
If you're calling them and you're the one who talks the most and she's not really into it that much, either they're not into you that much or your calling them too often. You can tell by their voice and whether or not they are interested in the conversation. Sometimes they say they have to go get off the phone and sometimes that is the truth and sometimes its not. When its not the truth, give them a little space.

I get this feeling my girlfriend just flat out wants to break up with me, but hasn't yet. For like 3 weeks now, she's been either too tired, busy, or just unavailable for ANY plans I suggest.
Women wonder why guys get obsessive, it's because when you say you want to do something, then don't return the call for 2 days. Yeah, any healthy breathing guy who cares about his girl is going to think "what is going on?"
But this is me throwing in the towel, if my girl wants a relationship with me, she has my number. Good luck to the others out there who are simply worried about their loved ones.
