How do you know if your car has been stolen or repossessed?

Answer:

EZ-er than that call your local police or 911. They are required by law to inform the police when they are doing a legal repossession.

Repossession

EZ - call your finance company. If you are behind on your payments more than 60 days there is a good chance they got it. You can also call the police, the finance company is required to notify them.

Please call your local dispatching service for your law enforcement. The Repo man is required to report the self-help (repo) immediately to them. Don't let the car thief fool you into thinking it was repoed. Calling the finance company the next day stating the repo man got it makes you feel small reporting it to the Police a day or week late as stolen. A good repo man is gone in less than "60 seconds" quite as a mouse. The only thing stopping him from become a real car thief is his respect for himself. How are you suppose to know if it was me or a thief? Besides if you catch me, it's a mind game I enjoy. I will legally be back over and over to try, because I play by the rules. I just get better and you just get less sleep. Call me and give it up, sleep like a baby tonight. Don't worried about those bumps in the night. If you heard it, it was not me. Oh! yeah. I like the customer with the buggy-full coming out of the "Wall-Babies" with vehicle remote in his hand. "Now where did I leave mine vehicle and why is that other horn blowing on that other vehicle leaving on that tow truck. Someone with a vehicle just like mine must have called for a tow."

  • In Illinois, we are required to report reposessions immediately to the police. In some cities, the police want to know BEFORE we reposess. So when you call your local P.D. to report your car stolen, they can let you know if we've visited you...
