How can yo tell if a cat is about to give birth?

Actually my cat was in her 63rd day of pregnancy and she was about to give birth at any time. What was awkward is the bad smell that was excreting out of her as if she had diarrhea, but she didn't. Moreover her bad smell filled the room she was staying in. Then 2 days later she gave birth to three healthy adorable kittens and the bad smell was gone, for good. According to my assumptions I think the bad smell is usually excreted by female pregnant cats prior to giving birth so that the male cats wouldn't come near them, but i am not a vet I am just an owner of a cat whom I am so attached to and I am not qualified to draw conclusions. It's much better if you contact a vet. Wish all the cats best health and safety.

your cat will be very restless. she will porbably be looking around for a place to nest. also, she might be meowing alot or more than she normally would in a tune you wouldn't have heard before.

Momma cats almost always will start looking for a 'nest' for her kittens to be born in not long before birthing starts. This could be that bathrobe that you tossed into the closet floor, a warm and safe corner somewhere, or if she can get outside she might find a protected spot to have her kittens in.
