How do you know if your gerbil is happy?

If a Gerbil is glossy and is growing fur then you are feeding it enough. Usually gerbils are happy if they have a mate or companion in the same cage and are provided regulary with food. Gerbils often respond to music and I have found with my Gerbils that they enjoy classical music with a woman singing. You can tell if they are relaxed if they are half closing their eyes.

I own a gerbil. When he is happy he seems to squeak a lot. Also, he/she may get hyper and run and jump a lot.
