eg- try giving food to both and keep them together during this experiment.

you will notice that one of them would not jump that much for food but the other one would fight and push and jump to grab the food

the one who is quiet and wont jump is the female

and the on who will fight will be the male one....

eg2- the one which will litter more and start talking late ia the female

and the which wont litter that much and start talking early is the male one.

The above will not assist, as birds have different temperaments, regardless of gender. The real answer is that, on the whole, it is almost impossible to determine whether a fledgling or chick is a male or female.

It also depends largely on the type of parrot, of which there are hundreds of species. As a general rule, male parrots are more colourful than females, but this only becomes evident when the bird is older. This colouring difference applies to cockatiels (the male of which has brighter cheek patches) and some breeds of lorikeets and rosellas.

This rule does not apply to some cockatoos, such as sulphur-crested cockatoos and galahs. Female galahs have pinkish coloured eyes rather than black eyes.

Mature male budgerigars have a blue cere, as opposed to a white cere on the female, or a brown one in breeding season. Again, it is almost impossible to determine this with younger budgies.

However, other parrots such as corellas, some species of lorikeets and rosellas, and sulphur-crested cockatoos require a vet to sex them. They are almost impossible to tell apart because there are no external differences. With many types of parrots you can actually not tell what sex they are without a DNA test. A vet can collect blood or a feather sample and run tests to determine the sex of the bird. An expert can also tell the difference in the width of the pelvic bones: females have pelvic bones further apart than males.
