If the piercing is completely healed, no. If the piercing is still fresh/new, possibly. If you remove it, continue to clean & care for it as you would any other wound.
If the 12 year old has had the piercing for over a year, chances are good it's healed. If it was done by a piercing gun, then it could still be healing.
Go to see a Doctor and ask.
If there is room you can but why?
no, eventually it will heal
cartilage piercings usually take a year plus to completely heal. if you can leave it out for a few days with no pain putting it back in it is most likely healed.
Most piercers will pierce your ear with two hoops first, because it is safer for it to heal. Once it is healed you can put the bar through it.
it's the same as an industrial piercing.
Well the piercing needs to heal, this can take up to a year for a piercing to become seasoned (this is when you can remove the jewellery for a few hours and not have an issue putting it back in). Average heal time can vary from piercing to piercing from 4~6 weeks for some and other a lot longer. Light heals are not considered "healed" and can be damaged by removing the jewellery too soon.
If the piercing is recent, very carefully, once it is healed, you can clean it as usual.
It's best after the piercing is healed, otherwise it might get infected and swell up.
If the screw ends of both the septum piercing and the industrial bar are the same size then the screws may work. The only way to know is to try.
