Once you have proved that the battery is in good condition, you should then check the starter solonoid to determine if it is working. It triggers the bendix spring in the starter shaft gear so that it in turn engages the flywheel and makes the engine turn over. You should hear a positive click ( you will need someone to engage the ignition key while you are listening under the hood). If the starter fails to engage even though you are certain the solonoid and Bendix spring are working, or if the starter engages but is "dragging", you could have a defective starter. More than likely, this is the case, and it is best to have it removed and replaced with a new or rebuilt starter from your parts resource. Again, before you give up, make sure your battery is not the culprit.
You know the starter is going bad when you have a dragging starter.
One indication that the starter is going bad in your vehicle is if the vehicle won't start but the battery is full of life. When the starter is the reason, a very audible click will be heard.
It begins to sound bad: slow, crunchy, squeaky or some other bad noise.
When a starter goes completely out then the engine will not turn over. A starter that is going bad could start sometimes or make considerable noise.
Could possibly a solenoid on the starter going bad. Could possibly a solenoid on the starter going bad. Could possibly a solenoid on the starter going bad.

By taking it off and testing it for resistance with a digital multimeter.
Remove and bring to an auto parts store that can check it for drag and load
bad starter or starter solenoid.
Bad starter, or dead battery. :) Or you could have a bad wiring connection. Oh yes, and your starter switch (where you put your key) could be going bad.
A bad starter might make a noise. The starter could also go bad with no noise or warning. However if the starter is making noise then there is a problem that could cause failure at any time
Yes, you can count on it.
