You push the accelerator with the car in drive and the engine revs up, but it won't go. This may be accompanied by a vibration or acrid smell.
Also, when you put the car into drive, if its really slipping badly the car will not pull its self like it should. Or when you go into reverse your car trys to pause, or lock up.
Time to replace the transmission.
chances are the clutches are worn out and need to be replaced, so your looking at a transmission overhaul.
if it moves without slipping or hezitation
A slipping transmission is like driving on ice or trying to get away from the monster in your dreams. You are running like mad but not going anywhere and when you wake up you are still in the same place but are overheated. Change your fluid and transmission filter.
Its probably your transmission slipping if it is an automatic, or your clutch slipping if it is a manual transmission.
if it has a clutch, the clutch needs replaced. if it's an automatic, it needs to be overhauled by a dealership or competent transmission shop.
if it is automatic the transmission could be slipping if manual the throttle could be sticking

Most likely no. I have had occasional luck with Slick 50 Automatic Transmission treatment but only sometimes.Its worth a try and sometimes it works
If your gear shift is freezing it could be because your clutch is not longer working. If you have an automatic then your transmission may be slipping.
If it is slipping in those gears then it is time for a rebuild. no EASY FIX
