How do you lock the doors of a 1999 Mercedes SL500 once you are in the car do you just press the door button down?

Well, first thing you have to do is to get rid of the cat in the back seat. Make sure all of the windows are rolled down, start the car and put it in second gear. Check the windshield wipers, turn the headlights on, and then press the hazard warning switch. And finally, open the glove compartment.

Now I'm just kidding....

On the inside door lever, you'll see a smaller lever above. Push that little lever down, that will lock both doors. This makes it nearly impossible to lock your keys inside your car. I think there were some models that had a door lock switch on the center console...but I doubt you have that model. And...there are no door button on SL's. Are you sure you have an SL?

And one more thing...don't forget to get rid of that cat in the back seat.
