To loosen the tension on a serpentine belt on a 2005 Grand Caravan 3.8L, turn the nut of the belt tension pulley to loosen it. Adjust the belt, then tighten the tension pulley by turning the nut in the opposite direction.
Ajustment bolt is located at the bottom of power steering pump.
The belt tensioner is rotated clock wise with a 15 mm wrench or belt tool.
You will need to buy a special tool that allows you to release the tension. It is fairly cheap and you can buy one at your local auto parts store. The one I bought was called a "Serpentine belt tool kit" and cost around $25-$30. Hope this helps.
One of the pulleys is out of alignment, usually it is the tension pully. Replace it and problem will go away.
a spring loaded
Dodge has a repair kit for that problem on a 1996-2000 Check all puleys for alignment. Check belt shield. Check for correct tension.
Usually it takes a 3/8 or a 1/2 inch rachet on the spring loaded tensioner. simply put the rachet in the square hole and loosen the tension to get the belt off.

Fit a new belt tensioner
Rear most and lowest pulley on the serpentine belt.
This belt is tightened by a manual system. The key is to loosen the bolt located on the tensioner pully, then loosen the adjustment bolt located above and to the left of the pully. For the 4.0L, there is an adjustment bolt behind and on the engine side of the power steering pump. It runs diagonally behind the pump and the tension pulley. In order to loosen the tension, the bolt on the tension pulley must be loosened first. This pulley is the one below the power steering pump. Tighten the pulley bolt again once the adjustment has been made.
