In order for you to change your water pump, mine is a 1991 cavalier and I had to take everything apart. I first started with the altanator, then you have to take off or loosen the power steering pump in order to take off the tensionor pulley that is a big alluminum plate with the tension pulley bolted to the head in order to access the bolts to the water pump. Its a pain, you just have to have patients, (TIP) in order to loosen the powersteering pump the bolts are inside the pulley, it has holes in the middle of it and you have to rotate the pulley to get to the bolts.
I have the same car. I also just had to replace the water pump. Cost me about 200. 1. Drain cooling system. 2. Loosen and disconnect hoses. 3. Remove the pulley bolts and the pulley (wedge a screwdriver between the two bolts to prevent the pulley from turning). Loosen all bolts before removing any of them. 4. Remove retaining bolts and remove water pump When installing, put a new gasket and sealant on the bolts. Good luck.
to change the water pump loosen all the pulley bolts, then take the belt off. after you get the pulley comletely off, there will be 5 more bolts. take them off and the water pump will come off. you might have to tap alittle.
Drain antifreeze. Jack Passenger side of car up. remove wheel well skirt. loosen pulley bolts on water pump before removing serpentine belt. loosen a/c compressor and slide forward about an inch. remove pulley from water pump. remove 4 bolts holding water pump in. remove water pump. reverse sequence to put new in.
Please specify an engine size. If it is a 3.1L v-6 there is a posting already about the t-stat. As for the water pump, it is on the passenger's side and is the forward-most, upper-most pulley driven part. It is a VERY simple replace and is held onto a mounting plate by small bolts. VERY IMPORTANT! Make very sure that you bleed all air from the coolant system after replacing the pump. The air can be released by unscrewing the small top screw on the assy that goes from the coolant bottle to the block. Mark,,,Raleigh, NC Helpful Hint---to loosen the bolts on the pulley, leave the serp belt as is, loosen the pulley mounting bolts, loosen the belt (DO NOT remove completely, remove the pulley, you will see the mounting bolts under the pulley area
loosen the idler pulley and then remove the belt. then you remove the fan shroud i believe its like 4 bolts, then you remove the fan. after that you can remove the water pump.
in this order from start to stop you remove the fan shroud from the radiator then you loosen the belt that is around the pulley behind the fan then you remove the bolts that are between the fan and that pulley then remove the fan you might have to lightely tap it with something to break it lose from any dirt and crud but should come rite out!
The water pump on a 97 Nissan Sentra is behind the timing belt. To replace it you will need to drain the coolant, remove the cylinder head, loosen pulley bolts, drive belts, and water pump pulley. Next, remove coolant hoses, water pump bolts, and finally the old water pump. Reverse directions to replace with new pump.
Drain coolant Remove 4 bolts that secure fan and pulley on water pump Remove Belts Slide fan and pulley off water pump shaft Loosen and remove bolts securing water pump Remove coolant hoses if required Remove water pump Clean engine surface before installing new pump and gasket ya what he said......lol
Most if not all 97 Cutlasses seem to have the 3100 SFI engine in them. The water pump should be located behind the water pump pulley which is a smooth (not grooved) belt pulley at the top near the front. Be sure to loosen (but not remove) the pulley bolts before you remove the belt. Also, if you're replacing the pump, bring the engine to normal operating temperature before you begin if you don't like broken bolts.
You have to loosen the tension pulley located way in the back on the bottom ( I used a crow bar) the take the bolts off and slap the other one on!
1. jack the vehicle up on both sides, use jack stands if possible. 2. Remove Passenger front tire, along with plastic splash shield 3. Drain coolant 4. With serpentine belt still installed, loosen the 3 bolts on the water pump pulley, don't take them all the way off, just loosen them. 5. Use a 14mm wrench to reduce tension on the serpentine belt enough so you can slide the belt off 6. Remove the water pump pulley bolts, remove pulley, or let it rest on the pump shaft. 7. Remove water pump housing bolts (6 of them) and discard the gasket 8. reverse procedure to reinstall new water pump please visit my bio page for access to my Saturn help site for a picture of your water pump. 1. jack the vehicle up on both sides, use jack stands if possible. 2.
