CARDIO!!! You can lift weights for hours, but to lose the fat on top of the muscle run, powerwalk,do aerobics, dance, etc. anything to make you sweat.
also, pilates helps a lot for long lean feminine looking muscles and losing weight. Although the equipment can be expensive, look up some exercises for areas you want to trim and a lot of them either don't need equipment or equipment can be easily substituted. For instance, the one pound 'pilates weight ball' workout could be done with a one pound weight. It's all about little exercises that don't seem trying at first, but believe me, by the time you're done, you're sore.
