Loosing weight is best achieved by in taking slightly less energy than you need per day and excecising regularly.

Try to take in less than 8000kJ per day and excecising fror at least half and hour.

Diet and excercise.

Excercise should elevate your heart rate. Depending upon your age there are different heart rates that you should aim for, but as a general guideline, you will know your heart rate is elevated if your body feels hot. As a minimum, you should do some excercise that elevates your heart rate for 20 minutes three times a week.

Two common approaches to dieting are limiting your calorie intake, or changing your diet so that it is lower fat.

The limited calorie intake is probably the quicker and easier of the two methods for many people. The idea is that you only allow yourself to eat a certain number of calories per day. You must look at the nutrition information of everything that you eat and keep track of it throughout the day. Remember to count the calories that you consume through drinks like soda. How many calories should you eat per day? A friend of mine told me that you should take your goal weight, and then add a zero. If your goal weight is 150, then you should eat 1500 calories per day. You may want to get some other more professional advice about what number of calories is best, but this method worked well for my friend. She lost weight quickly and did not have to give up her favorite foods, she just ate less food overall, and switched from regular pepsi to zero calorie pepsi.

The other method of dieting, the method of changing your diet so that it is a low fat, balanced diet, is the method that I recommend. It may take a little bit longer to have an effect, but the effect will benefit your health for your whole life because you will be learning what your body really needs and getting used to eating foods that are really good for you. The basic guidelines are that at least one third and up to one half of your diet should consist of a variety of fruits and vegetables, but mostly green vegetables. No more than one third of your diet should consist of meat, and the other part of your diet should consist of whole grains and other starches such as potatoes and corn. Milk and dairy and eggs and nuts and beans are good too. A lot of nuts have a high fat content, but in general you don“t have to worry about that because it is good fat. You need to eat a lot less processed foods such as white bread and regular pasta, because these lack fiber and nutrients. It is basically, as my mom would put it, empty calories. You need to iliminate from your diet as much as possible all sugars, fried foods, and processed fats such as potatoe chips, candy bars, all hostess products, almost anything that you can buy in a small bag at a conveniance store. Beware of high fat foods such as cheese, pizza, and ranch dressing, and do not make them a main part of your diet. If you really want to change the way that you eat, you will probably need to look up informaton about health and nutrition, and cook almost all of your food at home.

To really be fit and healthy, you need a combination of a healthy diet and excercise.
