I've had my dreads for about a year and I maintain them by crocheting loose hairs into the dreads. If hair simply will not go into the dread, even after palm-rolling and wax, I simply snip it off.
It depends on the pattern that you're doing, you can twist them yourself before adding the filigree cap, or if you are doing a seed bead necklace, then the twist is automatically in your pattern....
