This will vary greatly depending on both your location, size and type of pool, what type of filter, if you have a chlorinator/ionizer and if you're using a solar blanket or not etc.

For a 30x15 residential pool in warmer states you can generally get by checking the pH and chlorine levels with a test kit every few days and adjusting chemicals as needed and just cleaning your skimmer basket once a day. More extensive care such as shocking and cleanings can usually be done on a weekly basis. If you have a high swimmer load or it rains a lot or you have high temperatures for an extended time then you may need to check the Chlorine levels and pH daily as those conditions can throw off the chemical balance much more quickly.

In my personal Pool I simply use an ionizer (They cost around $250) then I just add a cap full of chlorine each week and check the PH, that's about all I never need to do to run my pool year round (I live in Florida).

There are a number of things that are required to keep an inground swimming pool maintained. Some things that are necessary are to clean the skimmer basket daily, vacuuming the pool at least twice a week, and brushing the sides of the pool once or twice a week to prevent stains. It is also necessary to use pool chemicals to assist in keeping the water clean and safe.

Pool maintenance is dependent upon the usage of the pool and the weather. You should check your filter pressure daily and clean when needed; also check the pH and chlorine daily and adjust as needed. At least once a month check the alkalinity and hardness and adjust as this will affect the pool finish. You should brush and vacuum whenever the bottom looks dirty.

Keep Your Pool Clean With A Pool Maintenance Schedule?

Proper maintenance is important if you have a pool. Without proper maintenance, a pool can become unsanitary and even unsightly. If you have too much chlorine in your pool, your eyes may burn; if you do not use shock, algae may develop in your pool. An improperly maintained pool can also cost you money as well as time. For these reasons, it is important to properly maintain your pool. One of the best ways to maintain your pool is to create a maintenance schedule. Your local pool supply store should be able to help you with this, or you can find sample schedules on the internet. According to the schedule, you should check the chemical levels on a daily basis. Some chemicals, including shock will need to be added weekly. Your maintenance schedule will vary depending upon your climate as well as the amount of swimming that you do in the pool.
