How do you make a silk screen?

Answer:

Answer

Today, most silk screens are made of special polymer fabrics. The fabric is stretched tightly on a wooden frame.

There are a couple of ways that the fabric is then prepared for screening. You paint the fabric with varnish in the places that you do not want paint to go through. Or you can obtain special two layer paper that is plastic on one side and paper on the other. You cut the plastic away in the places you want the paint to go through. Then a solvent is used to melt the plastic into the material and peel away the paper.

Multiple colors require a different screen for each color. Registration to keep things lined up is the tough part on those.
