This is how to make a gourd doll (Traditional doll from the Czech Republic and Slovakia)
1. Collect items needed
-A Gourd
-Big Bead
-2m worth of string
-12 smaller beads
-Drying Clay
-Paints
-Scissors
-Pencil
-Hot Glue Gun
-Knife (Sharp)
2. Cover the gourd with the clay (2cm thick) leave to dry and harden
3. Slice clay in half with knife (Length-ways)
4. Use pencil to put holes in the clay for arms and legs (Do it on both sides of clay)
5. Cut 2 30cm lengths of string and thread through the arm and leg holes. (Two clay halves should be free from each other.)
6. Thread 4 small beads on each string (Arms and Legs) REMEMBER: Tie knots at the ends!
7. Use the Hot Glue Gun to glue the 2 halves together
8. Glue the largest bead on to the top of the clay gourd (Body) as the head
9. Paint a face on the large bead and a dress or pattern on the clay (Body)
10. VIOLA! You now have a traditional Czech and Slovak Gourd Doll. Remember to name it.
