How do you make hair bows? |
You will need about 2 yards* of ribbon, scissors, and about 9 inches of narrow ribbon (or wire) *If you don't know how much ribbon you will need, keep it on the spool until the end.
1. Form a loop of ribbon about 4 inches in length.
2. With your index finger and thumb firmly holding one side of the loop, (re‑gripping as you go) continue winding the ribbon around the original loop about 12 times- each loop directly on top of the previous loops.
3. After you grip your last loop, cut the ribbon off the spool (if attached). Don't let your loops go.
4. Flatten and pinch the middle of all the loops tightly - making sure the loops are the same on both sides. At that point, cut a small triangular notch just short of the half-way point. Flip and repeat. It should look like X (hourglass shaped). Do not cut all the way through.
5. At that X, tie the narrow ribbon (or wire) very tightly to secure all the loops in place.
6. Starting from the inner most loop, separate and open the loops - twisting and alternating (away from you/towards you).
7. Use the ends of the narrow ribbon (or wire) to secure the bow to your package/gift.
