There are a few things you can do. Before anything, peel the paper label off, and expose the cardboard underneath. Sometimes, just peeling the paper will allow it to open. If not, try any of the following.

1) Press a spoon, or any dull utensil, into the seem of the cardboard to break it.

2) Take each end of the tube in you hands, and twist the can until it pops open.

3) Hit the middle of the tube against something hard, like the edge of a counter or table, with enough force to break the seal and open the can.

4) Lay the tube onto a counter or table. Then, using a wooden or plastic spoon (the kind you would use to stir a pot or large bowl of food), or another cooking utensil, hit the center of the tube until it pops open.

Each option may take multiple attempts, so try each at least a few times before moving to the next possibility. In any event, please do NOT use a sharp handheld object like a knife to try to open the can. The sudden pop may cause the knife to slip, or may cause the person using it to become startled, and an injury may occur.
