If it is just the child has some sleepy eye crud stuck to eyelashes, then a warm washcloth or a shower/bath should help open eye.
But, If it isn't the sleepy eye crude----You might NOT want to open the eye.
I would make an emergency Peditrician apt, or empergency eye Doc apt!!
If it has some particle in there, I doubt you will have the tools and expertise to remove the product, if he got his cornia damaged by a sharp object, You wont be able to see it with the naked eye.
Eyes are a serrious deal, we only get 2.
