in order to open the door at the sootopolis gym
u have to capture GROUDON. u cant enter the cave where groudon leaves because a man wont let u. u have to go to an ohter cave where team MAGMA is. team AQUA is there too. after some battles u will have to battle the leader of team MAGMA. he will use an orb to capture GROUDON but it will fail. then go to sootopolis. at the left island enter the cave and reach GROUDON. try to capture it. i dont know what happens if u dont but i suppose its the same. then u can enter the gym after a short talk with Steven. ^^ i hope i said it correct :x
