How do you overclock an AMD Athlon 64 3000 plus? |
[Edit] |
Answer
You will first have to reboot you computer into the BIOS ( usually by pressing the Delete key during start up). go to the Frequency Voltage control menu, find the entry called CPU FSB Clock, and increase it by the smallest amount possible (2MHz is usually a reasonable increment). Don't get impatient and try for a large jump, you'll have only yourself to blame if you fry a very expensive chip. Finaly save the settings and reboot your pc. Be aware that increasing the speed of the frontside bus also increases the speed of your system RAM, which could prove the limiting factor.
Answer
better is to set your 400ddr to 333ddr and the ht frequency to 4(800 mhz) now you can clock your 3000+ with standard cooling from 1800mhz to 2100mhz (230 mhz fsb) easily. for more you better change your cooling to something better.

Answer
you cannot fry your CPU simply by jumping up the FSB. Only voltage changes can fry it, if your FSB frequency is too high, your computer will simply not boot, or be unstable. Then you need to lower your FSB. Until you get REALLY familiar and experienced with computers, don't touch CPU or Memory voltages..
