How do you paint over a kitchen cabinet that has been stained factory finished?

First of all, you have to clean them really well before painting. Some people even remove the doors and hardware first, filling in the holes left by the old screws.
You will have to prepare the surface first. Sand, seal or both. The danger is having the paint peel off if the cabinet is bumped or scratched.
