How do you pay for an online purchase from Italy using an American credit card?

Answer

Hi
It doesn't make any difference if you are buying from Italy or Stop n Shop; you just give them your card number and the credit card people will make the currency conversion for you and it will appear on your bill in US dollars.
Of course, you will want to do all you can to make sure the person you are buying from is all square, and you MUST make sure that the computer taking your data is secure.

You can check that by looking at the web address in your browser: it will start off with http://www.somethingsomething. And that's OK.

But that will change to https:// on the page where you put your credit card number. If it does not change and the "s" does not come after the http part, then it is not a secure server and anyone can and probably will get your credit card number.
