How do you pay for products you buy over the Internet from other countries?

The beauty of the Internet is that products from all over the world are readily available at your fingertips. The main things you have to be careful of in this situation is the exchange rate and shipping costs. While you may be able to find rare products internationally, you need to make sure you evaluate whether or not they are worth the money once you figure the exchange and add shipping.

There are several currency Web sites or ?currency calculators? available online. These calculators allow you to enter in the price of the product (e.g. 12.95 pounds) and hit calculate, and it tells you how much that price equals in dollars with the current rate of exchange. If you simply pay with your credit card as you would for any online purchase, it will be that dollar amount that shows up on your statement, not the amount in pounds. It?s important to figure out the exchange so you aren?t surprised with the cost when you do see your monthly bill. However, keep in mind that the dollar value changes by the minute, so what you figure online probably will not be the exact amount that you end up paying, but it should be only a few cents off.

Another thing to consider when shopping internationally is the shipping cost. Even if you find a good deal, make sure it?s not going to cost you $50 to get the product here, or your bargain could end up being much more expensive than you thought.
